Lasso The Moon
We love big projects, and this qualified: to dramatically represent the capabilities of a leading trade show display company as part of a “We can do anything” consumer and trade publication ad series. The full-scale setup (big enough to take up an airplane hangar) included a handpainted moon and starry sky created by a background curtain with millions of tiny fiber optic lights. It was all shot by ImageTap photographer Mitch Magnuson, whose expertise in capturing large scenes as an L.A. automotive photographer served him well on this project. Mitch used a wide-angle lens and Tungsten theatrical lighting to set the mood, plus strobe lighting and a relatively large f-stop number to sharpen the figure of the moon-roper.
We shot for the moon and got it: everything was done on set, in camera and in one take.
